Sedation Dentistry
Dental anxiety affects up to 75% of Americans—and it shouldn’t keep you from getting the care you need. At Elevated Endodontics, we offer multiple sedation options to help you feel relaxed, comfortable, and in control during your root canal treatment.
Our Sedation Options
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
A safe, sweet-smelling gas that has been used in dentistry for decades. You’ll breathe a mixture of 50-70% oxygen with at least 30% nitrous oxide, remaining aware and in control throughout your procedure. You may experience mild amnesia or briefly drift off. Recovery takes just minutes, and no escort is required.
Oral Sedation (Triazolam)
Triazolam (Halcion) is a medication that greatly reduces anxiety before and during treatment. You’ll feel deeply relaxed while still being able to communicate with your endodontist.
IV Sedation (Intravenous Sedation)
Important: For oral and IV sedation, a responsible adult must drive you to and from your appointment and stay with you throughout the day and evening.

Our deepest level of sedation. A dental anesthesiologist administers sedative drugs and monitors you continuously while Dr. Read or Dr. MacDonald focuses entirely on your care. You’ll enter a sleep-like state and likely won’t remember the procedure—it will feel as though no time has passed.
Additional Comfort Options
Beyond sedation, we offer several ways to help ease anxiety during your visit. Let us know your concerns and we’ll keep you informed every step of the way. You can listen to music with our iPad and headphones or bring your own. Practice calming breathing techniques, and raise your right hand anytime you need a break.
